Week 2: Seeing And Feeling Results

Following our first full week on the Isagenix 30-day challenge, this week was to include a second, two-day cleanse and the usual shake days.

Prior to starting the 30-day challenge, Terri had had intestinal issues and this week she started having acid reflux immediately following her shake meals. We contacted our coach (Kristi Youngdahl) and she referred us to a video that had one of the Isagenix doctors give us the reasons for the acid reflux and the remedy.

His suggestion was for Terri to drink Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar 10 minutes before a meal that would help alleviate the acid flow back.
It’s working.

Though she hasn’t found complete relief for her stomach issues yet, she is feeling MUCH better about the state of her stomach and esophagus.

“I feel great, thanks to the Braggs and I have a lot more energy,” Terri says. “I have a little spring in my step, I feel.”

After losing 10 pounds (Terri nine) in our first week, this week the weight came off more gradual - sort of what we were expecting anyway. I lost 4.5-lbs. and Terri 3-lbs.

“My pants are much looser,” my wife said, excitedly.

Our main goal wasn’t necessarily losing a ton of weight (though, there’s nothing wrong with that), our purpose for joining this program is to get healthy bodies. We heard in one of Kristi’s seminars that a lot of people go around with maybe 80% of their body being unhealthy from the “garbage” that one eats and the lack of exercise. It was said that someone who has that unhealthiness - if they were to go out and decide to have a salad or healthy meal, it wouldn’t have an adverse effect  on that majority of unhealthiness.

Our goal is to flip that strategy.

We want our bodies to be generally healthy where - if we were to “splurge” one day and have pizza, it wouldn’t have an adverse effect on our healthy systems as long as we got right back to healthy eating and living.

Youngdahl suggested to Terri and I to follow the shake daily schedule and include a 400-600 calorie dinner consisting of protein and green vegetables. This week we had chicken and steak with veggies and even threw in a couple of stir fry meals to give us variety in our choices.

One hiccup we endured this past week was we both had a bout of awful constipation that lasted two days. A lot of people think the “cleanse days” are all about cleaning out your bowels. The idea of Isagenix cleanse days is it flushes your system with vitamins using their supplemental drinks and pills. The cleanse addresses the liver, gall bladder, upper and lower intestines, kidneys, lymph and blood.

Youngdahl explained to me that many people experience constipation because the body is dumping toxins faster than ones bowels can handle. With all the added proteins in the diet, it’s sometimes an unfortunate side effect.

On a side note, I LOVE the e-shot energy drinks we got in our kit  - it really perks me up and makes me feel more alert.

Heading into the second half of our 30-day challenge with excited anticipation. See ya next week!
