August 12, at approximately 2:01 a.m. Officer Tyler Hecht of the Big Lake Police Dept. stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. Officer Hecht observed a small rubber container, commonly used to store controlled substances, on the floorboard of the vehicle. The lid for the container was laying next to it.
Officer Hecht observed a white crystal residue inside of it, consistent with the appearance of methamphetamine.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a small gray makeup bag, inside a blue bin, in the trunk of the vehicle.
The passenger, Tiffany Mahin, age 29 of St. Cloud, stated the blue bin and its contents were hers. A search of the makeup bag resulted in the discovery of a loaded hypodermic needle with 26 milliliters of a clear liquid, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The makeup bag also contained various drug paraphernalia.
After the makeup bag and its contents were discovered, both the driver and Mahin denied any knowledge of the makeup bag.
Mahin was arrested and transported to jail. Mahin was charged by criminal complaint with; Felony 5th Degree Controlled Substance.
