Suspect Arrested For Possessing Meth

Tuesday, at approximately 3:05 a.m., Big Lake Officer Tyler Hecht observed a vehicle with a non-functioning brake light. Officer Hecht initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the vehicle occupants. The driver was determined to have a revoked driver’s license.

As Officer Hecht spoke to the occupants, he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. The driver stated they smoked marijuana earlier that day and there were marijuana roaches inside the vehicle.

While Officer Hecht searched the vehicle, he located a black purse that was located between the passenger’s legs. The passenger, Latasha Beaulieu, 31 of Red Lake, admitted the purse was hers.

Inside the purse was a baggie containing suspected methamphetamine. The substance field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine and weighed 2.5 grams.

Beaulieu was arrested and transported to the Sherburne County Jail. Beaulieu was charged by criminal complaint with; Felony 5th Degree Controlled Substance.
