Last Saturday, Becker Super Seniors hosted the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s.” Teams in Becker, and around the nation, participated in the walk virtually.
Alzheimer’s Association
Due to COVID-19, the Alzheimer’s Association is encouraging participants to walk in small teams rather than attend a large gathering. The walk helps to bring in funds through donations and to raise awareness about the horrible disease that affects 99 thousand Minnesotans, and six million Americans. One in three seniors are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or another dementia by the time of their death.
Becker Super Seniors
The Becker Super Seniors group is Becker’s local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Carol Brunn leads the group, and has gotten the Becker Area Senior Center to participate in the walk this year. This year, the Super Seniors raised $2,000 for the cause, but they will continue to accept donatations until Oct. 1.
