Senior Scholarship Program Honors Graduates

Students and parents of the Class of 2014 gathered for the annual Senior Scholarship Program on Wed., May 21 in the Becker High School auditorium.  They were joined by representatives of the school district, area businesses and civic organizations for the presentation of individual scholarships to the seniors who will be continuing their education at colleges and universities in the fall.

Principal Sandra Logrono welcomed the attendees to the program, her seventh such presentation since taking over the position at BHS.  Listed presenters for the evening included BHS Counselors Heather Eigen and Erica Sande, Dr. Becky Mueller, Randy Lyon, Phil Johnson, Dr. Brent Scheideman, Carleen Peterson, Mark Swanson, John Riebel and Dan Smith.

Presenting scholarships in conjunction with the Becker Dollars for Scholars program were DFS President Dale Seavert and long-time DFS volunteer Bruno Gad, along with Eigen and Stephanie Hansen and Ken Fiereck.  Gad delivered an entertaining and memorable speech to the graduates, describing a leathery old teacher in the tough Chicago neighborhood where he grew up and the tactics she used to motivate him to successfully complete his education.
