Township Engineer Terrance VanderEyk gave a road report that populated most of the discussion during Tuesday’s Clear Lake Twp. meeting.
Eyk said the seal coat bids were submitted to Sherburne County Tuesday morning and he discovered the estimate for Clear Lake Twp. came in lower than what he had estimated at February’s board meeting.
Eyk said the bids with the county are not finalized yet and he will have more information at the April board meeting.
Eyk also discussed the abstract for the township hall. In his research, he found the legal description on the abstract to be accurate. He presented the original plat to the board Tuesday with maps of the property lines that were recorded by a surveyor who was hired in the past by Williams Dingmann Funeral Home.
Eyk also had paper copies of the legal description for the township board to use if or when the town hall gets sold.
Sheriff’s Report
Deputy Chris Aleshire reported on the month of February and said there were 53 incidents reported, 23 of which were traffic stops and 11 public assists. A majority of the public assists were cars in the ditch due to the icy roads.
Aleshire said mainly Becker and Palmer township residents were reporting mail stolen from their mailboxes. The sheriff’s department did arrest one person, but there may be more people involved and Aleshire asks all township residents be aware of this issue as the sheriff’s department continues to work on finding any other perpetrators that may have been involved.
Old Business
The board and township residents read through the final copy of the resolution for the snow plow policy. Bud Stimmler motioned the final copy of the resolution be approved, second by Joe Goenner. Motion carried.
Chairman Gary Gray discussed the possibility of the township creating a history book. He said the idea is currently in the early stages of development and the board discussed forming a committee and to start having meetings to see what interest there may be. Stimmler also recommended putting an article in the newspaper asking residents for history information and volunteers to work on the research.
Treasurer Paul Goenner discussed the upcoming cleanup day and presented a spreadsheet with a list of fees per item disposal.
