Quick Meeting Discussing Roads, Property And Parks At Cl Twp.

The buying of property, a review of clean-up day, an update on the history book and an extensive road report were all part of the agenda at Tuesday’s Clear Lake Twp. Board meeting.

Property Purchase
Steve Beck and his sons, Andrew and Dan appeared before the board to discuss their purchasing of a parcel of land at 10061 – 92nd Ave. SE.

The sons plan to name the parcel “Beck Sons, LLC” and plan on restocking the land with cattle.

Twp. Clean-Up Day
Treasurer Paul Goenner discussed the township clean-up day that was held last May.

Goenner said there was one resident who did not bring money with him so Goenner sent him a bill for the cost of $25.

The resident still has not paid.

The supervisors asked Goenner to send him a bill again with a notice that if this bill is not paid, then it will be turned over to the county and go on his property taxes next year.

History Book
Bud Stimmler reported on the history book project in which Stimmler met with the writer, Mike Keigan, Monday.

Keigan furnished Stimmler with information on the township’s past industry, churches and beginnings in Minnesota.

Keigan and Stimmler agreed there is a lot of information yet to gather and verify.

2016 Levy
Chairman Gary Gray discussed the 2016 levy and said at the annual meeting, the amounts were determined to be $210,000 for the general fund and $240,000 for roads and bridges.  Those amounts will be recorded to the levy certified form and mailed to the county auditor by Sept. 15.

Road Report
Engineer Terrance VanderEyk reported the 2015 striping project  of 67th Street has been completed.  The cost came to $3,864.32.  Eyk says when the invoice from the county arrives, Clerk Mary Mathison will mail a bill to Palmer Twp. for their one-half cost of the striping.

Citizen Bob Iten asked about the Long Lake sediment control project and said there is some drainage that comes into the ditch on his property.  He was also concerned about the potential  snow melting in the spring which will create more drainage.

Iten said he talked to Sherburne County Ditch Inspector, Mike Lindeneau and Lindeneau told him that the ditch does need to be maintained.

Gray said he or someone from  the board will take a look at it on the September road tour and follow up with the issue then.

Library Board
Gray reported there was no library board meeting in July.

Fire Board
Gray reported on last month’s fire department board meeting last month in which he  and Joe Goenner were not notified ahead of time.  Gray said he received a call after the meeting had already started.

Gray asked the board to at least send him an email ahead of time so he can call Goenner so that they can both attend the next meeting.

Parks & Trails
Stimmler reported the park is nice and green.  He said the monthly rain has all the plants and trees flourishing.

At the end of September, members of the sentence-to-serve group will be cutting the brush and elm along the east side of the park.

Sheriff’s Report
Deputy Chris Aleshire reported on the month of July and said there were a total of 87 calls for service of which many were mail box issues, five were boating complaints, 43 were calls were for traffic stops, one DUI arrest, six medical, three suspicious vehicles, five security alarm alerts and two traffic complaints.

The next Clear Lake Twp. Board meeting will be held  Tues., Sept. 15 at 7 pm.
