Conditional Use Permit applications, special assessments and a building permit were on the agenda for Lynden Township’s May meeting.
CUP Applications
Jim Glenn from Outlet Recreation submitted applications for two CUPs (conditional use permits).
The first application concerns the possible purchase of the All-Bid property, and the second requests modifying the existing CUP to expand the outdoor display on the current property.
After discussion, the board agreed the public hearings can be held on the same night and the planning commission can look at both requests during the same site visit. =A motion was made to lower the application fee for the CUP modification from $750 to $150 to cover additional publication costs.
A public hearing is set for May 24 at 7 p.m.
Adam Tetrault from CrossFire Paintball Sports submitted a CUP application to rent acreage from AJ Acres Mark Fournier will operate his business.
A public hearing is set for May 24 at 6 p.m.
Special Assessments
Scott Pesola approached the board indicating he is interested in the Fulton Circle property and asked if the special assessment amount could be negotiated, the base amount of which is $18,500.
The board will review the two properties with special assessments at the upcoming June meeting.
Records reflect the Franklin Road parcel doesn’t have a building credit, however Inspectron, the township’s former building inspection firm, issued a permit in error.
Current township building inspector Nancy Scott discovered this error when the property owner applied to expand the existing building.
Stearns County Environmental Services (SCES) states a property must be platted in order to receive a building permit. No public hearing will be required.
Resident Complaint
A resident approached the board with concerns regarding the safety and speed on Driftwood Road and a possible nuisance concerning the number of unlicensed vehicles on a property.
Supervisor Jerry Finch will look into the matter to determine if the road meets the statute for lowering the speed limit. He will also look into the potential property nuisance to determine if there is a violation of the township’s nuisance ordinance, as the county ordinance no longer contains language limiting the number of unlicensed vehicles allowed.
Other Business
Greg Halverson was reappointed to a five-year term on the planning commission.
Bob Payne Long informed the board three signs have been stolen from the Crooked Lake boat landing. Clerk Jenny Schmidt will order new signs and submit the bill to the lake association for payment.
The board discussed fire coverage/taxation, and agreed the taxation map should mirror the fire coverage map. Clerk Schmidt will provide the information to Stearns County.
James Kantor recommended using Google Drive for the new township documents storage, which was approved. He recommended using WordPress for the township website; the transition of the site will be discussed at a later date.
There has been no appeal filed for Tails of Gold’s Kennel CUP revocation.
