Treasurer Janine Arnold officially submitted her resignation from her position effective December 31. Her reason was stated that she would be retiring from her day job and wished to be fully retired. With two years left in her term, the board will need to appoint a new treasurer to continue to perform vital tasks for the township.
After some discussion, the board decided to send out an advertisement for the position. Applications will be accepted until January 10.
Supervisor Gary Goldsmith offered to fill the position temporarily as a bridge between Arnold and whoever the board appoints as the new treasurer. Goldsmith’s term on the board was ending this year regardless so this will not create a vacancy on the board. Goldsmith served as the town treasurer before he served in his current capacity as a board supervisor, so he is familiar with the position and will be able to work with Arnold over the next month for a smooth transition. He also will be able to help train a new treasurer when one is appointed.
An advertisement for the position will be sent out in early December to let township residents know about the opportunity.
More information and a link to the job application will be posted on the town’s website, OrrockTownship.com.
In other news of resignations, Supervisor Bob Hassett announced his resignation at the October meeting. Due to this, Dalton Keiderling, who recently won his campaign to be a board supervisor, was appointed to Hassett’s position as an “interim supervisor” until he begins his own position in January, so the board will continue to be filled for the remainder of the year. Board Chair Bryan Adams will take on Hassett’s duties as road authority until the January reorganizational meeting, with Keiderling serving as his deputy road authority for the same amount of time as a learning opportunity.
