Second Week
Day 7: Mike has taken 51, 258 steps so far. He arrived at mile 118.35 Wednesday.
“I started very early at 12:50 a.m. to try to beat the heat,” he said.
Mike said he lost his head lamp mid-week so he has had to use his regular flashlight during the dark mornings.
“The bouncing from that light triggered a little vertigo,” he said.
He arrived at Warner Springs at about 8 a.m. and had breakfast at the golf course and filled his water in town. After taking about 1.5 hours to repack his gear into another bag, he was feeling better and ready to go again.
From then on out, Mike was faced with a 2,000+ foot climb and he said “the sun feels like it's at high noon all day.”
He also mentioned Wednesday was probably the last day he will see the group he usually sees daily who are doing the same walk.
Mike said his water tastes terrible and he plans to add black cherry flavor to it to make it bearable.
“But it still sometimes makes my stomach turn,” he said.
Wednesday he enjoyed some trail mix for dinner.
“Thanks for following,” he says. “Get involved in your relay and please donate if you can.”
