During their recent meeting, the Lynden Twp. Board of Supervisors accepted Schendzielos’ amended summer road maintenance proposal to run through Nov. 1, 2019, as well as the company’s winter road maintenance proposal to run through June.
Schendzielos and Ludenia Landscaping both submitted proposals for the summer road contract.
Road Updates
The township received a request from Pilgrim’s Pride for permission to haul up to 97,000 pounds along 155th St. to the chicken barns. The request noted that although the weight per axle wouldn’t change, the increased limit would allow for 20% fewer trips.
A discussion was held concerning possible damage to the road. Supervisor Dennis Niemi will research the issue and follow up with Township Attorney Mike Couri to review options, as well as contact the Stearns Co. Hwy. Dept. to inquire how they’re handling the issue on Co. Rd 44.
Niemi reviewed the section of Eaglewood Rd. that was missed during the township’s double chip coat project. He informed the board the equipment had shifted away from the road edge, but due to the cost-prohibitive mobilization expenses nothing can be done after the fact.
A motion carried accepting Schendzielos’ proposal to complete the culvert extensions on 13th Ave and Lake Maria Rd. No other proposals were received in advance of the meeting.
Complaints
An inspection of the property located at 483 221st St. E. on September 10 showed the tent and RV still being lived in. Although much of the junk and garbage remains, progress has been made in its removal.
A representative from Lake Central Bank informed Niemi that although they are listed as the property owner, they don’t have any rights to the property. Niemi will follow up with the bank’s legal representation team.
The board will consider sending an administrative citation if there has been no additional progress made at the property before the October meeting.
An administrative warning was sent to a property on 9th Ave. due to multiple complaints dogs running loose. The resident responded claiming the dogs weren’t theirs; Ackerman will follow up with the complainant. The complaint will be considered closed unless irrefutable proof is received otherwise.
The Dunmore Circle property owner has filed an appeal concerning the administrative citation he was issued in response to multiple complaints of his dogs running loose.
The board has no authority over the issue, the township’s hearing officer will set an appeal hearing date.
Other Business
The residents of Alder Rd decided to not submit a petition for tarring at this time. Niemi informed the board the road is currently in good condition.
Niemi spoke with the property owner on 19th Ave. concerning dirt that had been placed in the right-of-way. The owner apologized and will remove the dirt.
A proposed preliminary 2020 fire contract has been received from the City of Clearwater, again reflecting a significant increase. Supervisor Anne Ackerman will speak with a representative from Clearwater Twp. and report back at the October meeting.
All updated forms and applications will be made available on the township’s website.
The memorandum of understanding (MOU) was approved by Stearns Co.
The fall road tour has been set for Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.
The next Lynden Twp. meeting will be Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
