The Becker, Big Lake, and Clearwater libraries have been filled with patrons attending the many events offered at them this summer. Two at the Becker Library that proved popular were a talk from a Minnesota author and their community mosaic art project.
Minnesota author Gabrielle Meyer visited the Becker Library at the end of July. She shared about her books and answered questions from the audience. Meyer is the author of several fictional novels, including the popular Timeless series.
Meyer also spoke during the library’s radio time slot on AM 1240 WJON earlier in the week.
The community mosaic art project was worked on for multiple days this summer and was just completed in August. Patrons were invited to come to the Becker Library to work on the mosaic as often as they wanted, whether it was for one day or all of them.
Artist Laura Ruprecht designed the mosaic, and during the event, the use of glass and glass-cutting tools to create it was focused on.
The community mosaic art project is the second in a series of mosaics featuring Aesop’s Fables. The third in the series will be offered next year. The mosaics will all be displayed at the Becker Library.
The Becker, Big Lake, and Clearwater libraries have lots of events for everyone in the family coming up this fall. The branches belong to the Great River Regional Library system. For more information on programs available at all branches, visit griver.org/events.
