Lambert, Babler Elected To Becker Twp. Board

Area townships gathered Tuesday to discuss fiscal year-end business, hear from the public and tabulate election results for supervisor and clerk positions.
 
Becker Township
Mark Schaefer was nominated to be moderator for the Becker Twp. annual meeting Tuesday. His first order of business was to ask for an approval of the 2016 meeting minutes.
 
Clerk Lucinda Messman read aloud parts of the board of audit as well as the accounting report of cash basis and a statement of indebtedness. She said statements of receipts and disbursements for the general fund, road and bridge fund, town hall fund, fire fund and fire hall fund were reviewed and levy recommendations were discussed.
 
Treasurer Tanya Danielson dispersed the 2016 treasurer’s report and asked for a motion to accept.
 
A permits report for 2016 was also dispersed and approved. 
 
Kris Hammer of CentraCare Health in Monticello gave a year-in-review that included news on the new opening of the Monticello Surgery Center and the opening of a new Geriatric Behavioral Health unit.
 
Joe Danielson gave a road report and Brian Kolbinger a chairman’s report.
 
The Citizen-Tribune was named the official newspaper for legal notices.
 
In the election for two supervisor positions, Jeff Lambert retained the seat he occupied after Gary Hammer retired this past year. Lambert won with 43 votes.
 
In the second open seat vacated by Jamie Johnson, Luke Babler won the voting with 16 votes cast.
 
Messman reminded the guests that the board had capped their level of donations at $15,000 and will discuss appropriations at the next board meeting.
 
Next year’s annual meeting is March 13 at township hall at precisely 8:01. p.m.
