FULL HOUSE. The annual Sherburne History Center fund-raiser, titled "Rhythm & Brews" drew a good-sized crowd to the Carousell Works in Big Lake last Saturday night. The event raised $2,100 for the SHC, significantly ahead of last year's earnings, according to Exec. Director Mike Brubaker.
"WE HAVE A WINNER." Bill Kolbinger called out some of the winning raffle numbers last Saturday night at the Carousell Works in Big Lake when the band "The May North" took a break during the fund-raiser for the Sherburne History Center. The evening, titled "Rhythm & Brews," featured wine and craft beer sampling, hors d'oeuvres and that excellent bluegrass band.

History Center Has A Good Night

The Sherburne History Center had a good night last Saturday, raising a record $2,100 at their fund-raiser at the Carousell Works in Big Lake, reports Executive Director Mike Brubaker.

On hand for the evening along with Brubaker were SHC board members Jean Johnson, Diane Jacobsen and Carol Kolbinger, and SHC staff members Mo Galvan, Sandy Gadbaw and Karah Hawkinson.

The event drew a good-sized crowd from a variety of age groups, and the samples of local wines and craft beers proved again to be very popular with event-goers.

Hors d’oeuvres kept coming throughout the evening, and the first 50 ticket holders also received an engraved wine glass to commemorate the event.

The evening was made especially entertaining by the performance of the bluegrass band “The May North,” the St. Cloud ensemble that stopped in at the Carousell Works fresh from a performance at a festival in Wakefield, MI the previous evening.  The band members proved most congenial, moving out into the audience during their breaks and engaging attendees in conversation during the evening.

Business at the various raffles was also good, with many happy attendees going home with bottles of wine and other prizes from the event.
