Granger charged with possession of narcotics

On May 22, 2021 at approximately 2:01 a.m., Big Lake Police Officer Guy Chaffee observed a vehicle pulling a trailer. Officer Chaffee observed the trailer did not have operational lights. Chaffee stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Ryan Granger, 42 of Crystal, MN. While speaking to Granger, Officer Chaffee detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officer Chaffee advised Granger to step out of the vehicle where he asked Granger about the odor. Granger admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day. 

Chaffee advised Granger he was going to search his vehicle. Granger stated there would be a one-hitter in the vehicle. Officer Chaffee asked if he would find anything else and Granger stated there might be some methamphetamine in the vehicle. 

The vehicle was searched and a plastic container with a green leafy substance was found in the driver’s side door pocket. The substance field tested positive for mairjuana. Behind the passenger seat was a purple-striped bag that contained a plastic baggie. The plastic baggie contained a white crystal substance. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 1.7 grams. Two hypodermic needles were found in a wooden box and two glass pipes with brown residue, consistent with methamphetamine use, were also found in the vehicle. 

Granger was arrested and transported to the Sherburne County Jail. Granger was charged by criminal complaint with; Felony Possession of a controlled substance and Petty Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
