A sporting clays fundraiser to benefit the Farm Friends Barn project will be held at Wild Marsh Sporting Clays in Clear Lake on Thursday, Sept. 4, with registration from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., and a “shotgun” start at 3 p.m. Tickets are still available after Friday’s cut-off date for early-birds, at a cost of $100 per person, which includes 50 targets. Credit cards will be accepted at the event.
Following the shooting competition, a banquet social hour with cash bar will take place at Jack & Jim’s in Duelm beginning at 4 p.m. The banquet is open to the public, and tickets are $25 per person. The buffet dinner will feature a “Farm Friends Barn-Friendly menu,” according to organizer Jean Johnson, featuring pork chops and chicken, garlic mashed potatoes and long fancy green beans.
Awards from the shooting competition will be presented at 6 p.m., Johnson said, and the event will also feature a silent auction “like no other,” organizers said. Raffle tickets are being pre-sold for a number of prizes, including a Glock handgun provided by an anonymous donor that the qualified winner may claim at Element Arms after the necessary procedures. An iPad Air donated by Chubbs Performance will also be part of the raffle, but tickets for that item will only be sold at the dinner.
