Becker Cemetery Association Notice
All decorations must be removed from graves as of Oct. 15. Decorations left on will be removed by the Cemetery volunteers. Fall and Christmas decorations may be put out after Oct. 15.
 
Immaculate Conception Cemetery Notice

Book Launch for Pins & Needles
The second novel of MN Main Street Women by author Cynthia Frank-Stupnik, Sat., Oct. 13, from 12:30-2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Main St., Clearwater, followed by a walking tour of Clearwater from 3-4 p.m.
 
Concert with music from the Renaissance period
Sun., Oct. 14, 3-4 p.m., Annandale United Methodist Church, 250 Oak Ave. N., will host a concert featuring music from the Renaissance period as presented by Phillip Rukavina on the lute and Sarah Jackson as soprano soloist. Nighttime Exploration at Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge
Join us for a free Nighttime Exploration program on Sat., Oct. 13, from 7-9 p.m. We will explore the trails at dark, learn about star observation, and view constellations through a telescope to celebrate Fall Astronomy Day! Available to the public. The program will take place at the Oak Savanna Learning Center (16797 289th Ave NW, Zimmerman) which is a ¼ mile west of the Refuge Headquarters on Co. Rd. 9. Bring your own headlamp or flashlight. Visitors are also encouraged to bring binoculars, camera, field guides, water, a snack, and wear clothing and shoes appropriate for the weather and terrain. Pre-registration is suggested but not required by calling the refuge office at 763-389-3323 or emailing sher burne@fws.gov. Tours are free and open to everyone. 
 
Grapes and Grains Fundraiser
(Fund)raise your glass in support of the Sherburne History Center and the Friends of Sherburne Wildlife Refuge Sat. Oct. 20, 7 p.m. at Carousell Works, 160 Lake St., Big Lake. Becker October Harvest Fest
Sat., Oct. 6 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Becker City Park, 10362 Co. Rd. 23. Food, chili  and beverages, kids games, inflatables, hayrides and pony rides. Use the free shuttle service provided to and from City Park at Pebble Creek Golf Course parking lot, shuttle service available from 9 a.m.-2:15 p.m.

Clear Lake Lioness have begun meetings for 2018. We are searching for and welcoming new members who are interested in serving our communities. Becker Boy Scout Pack 92 Cardboard, Paper and Aluminum
Bring your aluminum cans to the trailer located near Becker True Value and paper and cardboard recyclables to the dumpsters near the same location the first Saturday of every month. There will be a Scout there to help unload between 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

VOLUNTEER BRIDGE
Community Connect – Sign up now to volunteer at this Oct. 18 event at Elk River High School to help those in need in our community. That day those in need will have the opportunity to receive winter clothes for their families, a free meal, toiletry basics, and a chance to speak with nearly 50 organizations in one place, each with a mission to help. Representatives from employment and housing services, food shelves, shelters, childhood eye screening and human services will be on hand to name a few. Volunteers are needed to serve meals, hand out information, welcome participants and keep clothes organized among other things. 3-5 hour shifts depending on the task. Be “Big” – Serve as a caring, qualified volunteer community based mentor to a “little” through Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central MN. Mentors meet with their “Littles” two to four times a month. Matches enjoy playing board games, bowling, going to movies, doing arts & crafts, playing sports, fishing, and many other fun activities. Opportunities exist to be a Big Brother, Big Sister, Big Couple or Big Family. Littles are waiting in Becker, Big Lake, Clear Lake, Elk River, Monticello, and Zimmerman. Hospital Gift Shoppe Buyer - As a part of the Fairview Northland Medical Center (Princeton) Gift Shoppe Committee, an Inventory Buyer will be responsible for purchasing inventory for the Gift Shoppe. Buyers will have flexibility and autonomy, but will be expected to partner with other members of the Gift Shoppe Committee. Buyer is to purchase appealing merchandise, strive to keep the Shoppe exciting and stocked, assist with store layout, adhere to a budget, and attend committee meetings, gift shop association meetings and occasionally attend “market” with other buyers.
