The Clearwater Legion Riders Post 323 and the Monticello VFW Riders had the honor of escorting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall built by Rock On Trucks to Monticello for the First Annual Local Heroes Days August 19 – 21.
The three-day event was started by Monticello RV Center to honor local heroes including law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, past and present military, educators, and medical workers. The purpose of Local Heroes Days is to showcase local heroes and have representatives and vehicles from each group attend to engage and interact with the public.
Making its debut during this time last year, the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is the latest tribute truck created by Rock On Trucks, Inc. in Waite Park. Previous tribute trucks include the Firefighter Tribute, Police Officer Tribute, and 101st Airborne Tribute. The trucks are working trucks, active daily as a reminder of the price paid by those who volunteer to protect the U.S.
Both the Wall and the company’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier traveling displays were featured during the Local Heroes Days celebration in honor of veterans and can be seen at various other events throughout the year.
