The Life and Times of Clear Lake Township history book will be officially launched Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Clear Lake City Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Author and Becker resident Michael Keigan will be in attendance to answer questions and sign books. Copies will be available for purchase during the event; attendees can also bring books they purchased previous to the launch to be signed.
Printed in softcover, The Life and Times of Clear Lake Township contains 260 pages of Clear Lake area photos and memories, along with 10 pages of color photographs. Purchase price is $15.
The book is filled with historical information on Clear Lake area country schools, churches, farms, fire department and veterans from World War I, World War II and the Persian Gulf, along with personal interviews from township residents.
Along with oral presentations every 15 minutes during the event, an on-going slide show will feature historical photographs, including many that didn’t make it into the book.
Although The Life and Times of Clear Lake Township has already been published, people are encouraged to continue to bring in their stores and pictures, including recent history. In particular, a photo of the town hall balcony is still being sought.
Photographs and complete stories that didn’t make it into the actual book will be put onto a DVD that will be available for future reference.
Light refreshments will be served throughout the event.
