Becker Twp sets electors meeting

The Becker Township Board took action Monday evening to schedule an electors meeting for August 19 at 8:01 p.m. to discuss a potential road fix, and the levy donation amount.

The meeting will allow residents input into potential solutions for the 92nd Street/157th Avenue corner and how to situate the roadway.  Also on the discussion will be a donation levy amount, which necessitates input from the taxpayers.

Sgt. Dan Frank of the SCSO detailed last month’s 185 calls for service, including nine motor vehicle accidents.  Excessive speed and distracted driving issues have been noted in some of the accidents and both are being addressed through extra patrols funded through grant money.

Next, the board held a public hearing for a metes and bounds subdivision on 87th Street.  The split was approved with the stipulation that a road easement dedication would be recorded as part of the plat.

An encroachment agreement was approved for a septic system located at a residence on 170th Avenue, as the road order from 1976 was flawed.  If located according to the original plans, the power lines would run down the center of the roadway.

The board also heard updates from Planner Ben Wikstrom and Engineer William Tessmer, the latter of whom discussed modifications made to driveway connections in the Bridgeview development.  Supervisors Joe Danielson and Robin Boros explained the need to have further discussions on the right-of-way ordinance in the future, but indicated that all issues had been settled for this year.

Clerk Lucinda Messman reminded the board that July’s meeting will be followed by a township/city meeting related to the Joint Powers Fire Board.
