Some teenagers get after-school jobs, and some have generous parents, but other teenagers get creative when it comes to buying their first car.

Becker resident Adam Jurek falls into the later category. Jurek is collecting cans from around his community to raise money for his first ride.

He doesn’t know what kind of car he wants to buy just yet, but he is hoping to raise $500 from recycling cans. While that seems like a lofty goal for a can collection, Jurek isn’t doing it all alone. The Becker community rallied around him after he posted his can solicitation ad on Facebook. Many locals offered Jurek cans from their homes and businesses.

“With all the generous people here, I think I might get there a little quicker than (the naysayers) think,” Jurek said.
