Andover Man Takes Becker Police On High Speed Chase

Wednesday night, Becker police arrested a young man from Andover after a high speed pursuit took them all the way into Benton County.

Jordan Jerome Kawlewski, 23 of Andover, was clocked traveling over 100 m.p.h. through Becker along Hwy. 10 at around 11:32 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Becker Officers attempted to stop the west-bound vehicle as Kawlewski approached Co. Rd. 53 on Hwy. 10. Kawlewski failed to comply and during the pursuit, Becker officers learned the vehicle was stolen out of the City of Andover in Anoka County and the driver may be suicidal.

The pursuit continued on Hwy. 10 into Benton County, at which time Benton County Sheriff’s deputies joined the pursuit.

Kawlewski eventually lost control of the vehicle and entered the ditch between an exit ramp and Hwy 10. He was taken into custody by Becker officers with the assistance of Benton County deputies and Rice police officers.

Kawlewski was treated at the scene by ambulance crew for minor, non-life threatening injuries. He was later booked at the Sherburne County Jail for felony fleeing police in a motor vehicle, felony possession of stolen property and gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation inimical to public safety.

No officers were injured  and no law enforcement vehicles were damaged during the pursuit.

The accident is being investigated by the Minnesota State Patrol and the details of the pursuit are still under investigation.
