American Family Insurance raises $600 for Backpack Buddies

During Freedom Days this year, Amy Chmielewski of American Family Insurance of Becker hosted a windshield chip repair day where Abra Auto Body was on site to repair cracks, chips and imperfections of vehicle’s windshields.

The proceeds from the event would go towards the Becker Backpack Buddies organization to thwart hunger for school kids in the area. Chmielewski’s event in the parking lot of her offices had cars lining up at 9:30 a.m. for the event which started at 10 a.m., and there was not a moment of down time until the event was ceased at 3 p.m.

Each windshield took about 15 minutes to fix, and the service (normally a $75-$100 cost) was completely free for anyone who wished to participate. However, participants were asked to help donate a free will offering on behalf of Becker Backpack Buddies and $600 was raised.

Becker Backpack Buddies program serves students in the Becker school district 726. Becker Backpack Buddies operates and is funded 100% on donations from people, the community and businesses. With these donations, BBB is able to purchase food and supplies to help give kids weekend meals during the school year.

Becker Backpack Buddies is solely funded by donations from great businesses like American Family Insurance. Without donations, Becker Backpack Buddies would not exist.
