The 20th Annual Sherburne County Senior Day Out will be held Wed. May 18th at the Friendly Buffalo in Big Lake. This event is sponsored by the Sherburne County Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT) Council and is a favorite of many of our residents to attend every year. Anyone age 55+ interested in learning about various safety and law enforcement topics is encouraged to attend.
Presentations and offerings this year include:
• A Place to Call Home — What options do you have if the residence you live in becomes too much to handle? Learn about numerous options available should that time ever come.
• Mental Health has been a growing concern over the years; however, is not always discussed. Learn how you can positively affect your mental health with this presentation from CentraCare Behavioral Health Services.
• Healthy at Home Paramedic Program offered by CentraCare Health is a post-discharge visit option with the goal of ensuring patients with certain diagnoses receive follow up care regarding medications and discharge instructions following hospitalizations. Learn more about this local program that helps seniors in their transition from hospital to home life again.
• Prescription drugs are to be used to help our health, right? Become further informed on how to be your best advocate when working with your pharmacist, along with the answers to frequently asked questions, and much more!
• Emergency Response Unit (ERU) is a team of cross-trained deputies that are utilized in various high risk situations. Learn about this team and the different scenarios they encounter.
• Living Safely — How advancements in technology can help you and your loved ones be safer at home.
• Updates from the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office and Becker, Big Lake, and Elk River police departments will be provided on law enforcement services, crimes, and trends in your area.
This event runs from 8am-2:30 pm and includes morning beverages and snacks along with a catered lunch with law enforcement officers from the area. Cost for the event is $9 per person and pre-registration is required by May 11th.
