CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 727, Big Lake Schools, was called to order on May 23, 2024.

ROLL CALL
All Board members were present.

APPROVE AGENDA
A motion passed to approve the agenda.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Chair Reasoner and the Board led the Pledge of Allegiance.

RETIREMENT RECOGNITION
Mel Borchert was recognized for 25 years of service and Janet Keister was recognized for 35 years of service.

OPEN FORUM
Rebecca Schwirtz addressed the board on building subs.

A motion passed to approve the donations.

APPROVE ALTERNATE BLACK UNIFORMS FOR BIG LAKE FOOTBALL TEAM
FOR YOUTH NIGHT
A motion passed to approve the alternative uniform as presented.

FINANCIAL REPORT
A motion passed to approve the financial report, budget revisions, and addition of 1.0 FTE SLD teacher at Independence as presented.

SEL CURRICULUM ADOPTION
A motion passed to approve the five-year adoption of CharacterStrong.

SCIENCE CURRICULUM ADOPTION
A motion passed to approve the six-year adoption of Savvas/Miller Levine Science for grades 9-12.

FOREIGN LANGUAGES: SPANISH CURRICULUM ADOPTION
A motion passed to approve the six-year adoption of Savvas Autentico.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT FOR ENGLISH LEARNERS CURRICULUM ADOPTION
A motion passed to approve the six-year adoption of HMH English Language Development for K-12.

Q-COMP ANNUAL UPDATE
The annual update was presented to the board.
Chair Reasoner announced a five-minute recess at 7:52 PM. Meeting resumed at 7:56 PM

APPROVE SPUD FEST FACILITY RENTAL AGREEMENT
A motion passed to approve the rental agreement as presented.

APPROVAL OF PAY AND BENEFIT CHANGES FOR NON-AFFILIATED STAFF
A motion passed to approve the changes as presented.
