Way back we had Hoover days with his depression and the drought and we had lots of pheasants to hunt. We had a .22 rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun, but the .22 shells were cheaper. At 12 years old, I got many pheasants for the dinner table. The .22 is over 100 years old and I still have it.
While farming, I went into the Wright County Army Reserve, drove tanks at Fort Snelling, Fort McCoy, WI, regular army at Leonard Wood, MO and Fort Ord, CA. Shooting had stopped in South Korea and ended up on the DMZ. Didn’t need to kill anyone and wasn’t shot at. Lots of land mines. You learn the power of army weapons to kill.
We can have all the guns we want for deer, ducks, pheasants, gophers, wild turkeys and skunks, but we don’t need army assault weapons. There is conceal and carry training ads in the paper, so learn the correct way to handle a gun.
