Alexis Noaeill and her mother, Kari Westby, enjoy keeping busy. The Westby family is very civic minded. Kari was instrumental in starting Beyond The Yellow Ribbon in the Becker area in 2013. The organization proivdes support for military families.
Kari’s daughter, Alexis, is a gifted artist and sells her artwork through her business Make Him Known. Her goal is to make God’s love known through her artwork, which includes paintings and custom signs.
Alexis markets her business on Instagram and Etsy. The money she earns from her artwork will be used to attend YWAM (Youth With A Mission), which is a Christian missionary and outreach group and discipleship Traning School after she graduates from high school.
Kari Westby grew up in the kitchen and always had a dream of opening a bakery. “I’ve always been everyone’s go-to person when they needed home baked goodies and a bakery seemed like a great fit”, Kari told me.
Kari’s dream came to fruition recently with the opening of Oh Cookie Bakery.
Last summer while in Oklahoma, where her husband was stationed, Kari researched bakeries and opening her own business. She decided to launch her custom baking business.
Kari’s daughter Alexis enjoys using her creative flair to decorate cookies. It serves as the perfect canvas for her art!
Kari and Alexis spend quality time creating scrumptious homemade baked goods from scratch usually two nights per week. The goodies in their wheelhouse include traditional, gluten free, vegan and dairy free options. “The gluten free and vegan goodies are often a favorite because they are so soft!”, Kari shared.
They recently baked cookies for the Becker dance team. Other recent creations have included snowflakes, strawberries, alpacas and shamrocks and Snickers cupcakes.
Kari sells many goodies and also donates many to a variety of causes such as church functions and silent auctions. She just completed a large order for a cancer fundraiser gala and one for a Christian school father-daughter dance in St. Cloud.
Many of the goodies the gals make are personalized for birthday and anniversary parties and celebrating holidays such as St. Patrick’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Christmas and much more. The cookies are available in a variety of flavors.
The mother and daughter duo have teamed up with several non-profits and share proceeds to help fund local mission trips, as well as a variety of othe meaningful causes.
Besides selling baked goodies, Kari and Alexis also host cookie decorating parties (in their home or yours). I see a cookie decorating party in my future!
This year was Kari and Alexis’ first time hosting a booth at Becker Business Expo and Craft Fair. I enjoyed visiting with them at their booth and hearing about the birth of their business ventures.
