31+ Days

We are now 31+ days into the Democrat government shutdown. Tomorrow (Nov. 1), more than 400,000 Minnesotans who rely on the SNAP program will not receive their benefits. Air traffic controllers and government employees have missed their paychecks. Everyday Americans are going to begin to feel the consequences of the Democrats’ shutdown.

It doesn’t have to be this way. On Sept. 19, nearly every House Republican and only ONE House Democrat voted for a nonpartisan, clean continuing resolution (CR) that Senate Democrats approved earlier this year and previously supported 13 times under the Biden administration.

Even the American Federation of Government Employees, a union that represents more than 800,000 federal employees, released a statement this week urging the Senate to pass the clean, short-term continuing resolution.

It is past time that the Senate votes and passes our clean CR so we can get on with the work of the American people.

Last Friday, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem visited Minneapolis to meet with the men and women of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). There, she touted the incredible work of the men and women of ICE. Since January 2025, more than 4,300 illegal immigrant criminals have been arrested in Minneapolis alone. These are murderers, human traffickers, and sexual assault perpetrators who are no longer on our streets and in our communities. We are grateful for the work of President Trump, Secretary Noem, and the men and women of law enforcement who are risking their lives to remove these criminals off of our streets.

Despite the shutdown, our staff is working and our offices remain open. If you or your family need assistance, please do not hesitate to call one of our offices: (202) 225-2331 or (763) 241-6848. We are here to help and serve you.
