Transportation: Drive Sherburne County Health and Human Service clients who have no other way to get to their doctor, employment, counseling or other necessary appointments. Drivers use their own cars and are notified in advance. Days and times are flexible. Mileage and start-up costs are reimbursed. Service depends on criminal background check, doctor’s permission, and a personal interview. Drivers needed for local trips near and around Sherburne County and/or trips into the Twin Cities Metro. Senior Companion: Visit homebound, isolated adults in Sherburne County. Offer time and compassion by being a friend who listens, helping with routine errands and transportation or providing support to caregivers. Volunteers must commit to 10-15 hrs per week, have dependable transportation, be willing to travel in your service area and have compassion, patience, and respect for others. Youth Mentor: Big Brothers Big Sisters is a 1:1 youth mentoring organization that reaches out to children facing adversity by providing them with a caring, qualified volunteer mentor. Mentors meet with their “Littles” three to four times a month. Matches enjoy playing board games, bowling, going to movies, doing arts & crafts, playing sports, fishing, and many other fun activities.
