Benefits Assistant - Many community members who are struggling to provide food for their loved ones are not aware of the avenues of help which are available to them. Volunteers are needed to be trained on the use of the simple Bridge to Benefits website to assist others to input basic household information that will allow them to be referred to assistance programs for which they may qualify. Of particular interest to Hunger Free Sherburne County is to screen for eligibility for food assistance. Having some financial support to purchase food will make the household budget stretch further to meet other costs. When those receiving food support benefits shop for groceries, local grocers are supported at the same time. Volunteers will use provided tablets at community locations during scheduled times of 1-3 hours to assist to screen and refer those eligible for assistance. Training will be held in early May 2015. Volunteers will choose from a variety of dates and locations for service throughout Sherburne County. Contact Charlotte – rsvp@ci.stcloud.mn.us – 763-635-4505/877-560-7787.
