Dust/Vacuum – Routine housekeeping never felt so good!  Assist someone who is unable to do these basic homemaking tasks for themselves.  Great River Faith in Action will match a willing volunteer with a client to assist 1-2 times a month, for 1-2 hours each time.   It could be you who makes the difference and helps a community elder to remain in their own home.  Contact Dani - danig@grfia.org - 763.263.4277.

 

Day Center Volunteer – Great River Family Promise, assisting local homeless families, needs volunteers to assist in the Day Center in Elk River.  Volunteers are needed at the Day Center in Elk River to host families from 3:00 - 5:00 PM on weekdays.   Hosting involved simply being present and interacting with family members until they leave at 5:00 PM for the host church where they will be staying for the night.  Volunteers may also need to answer the phone and take messages for staff to attend to. Volunteers must have good people skills and willing to be “task flexible” as the daily needs of families change.  Call Jess - 763.441.9093.

 

Grocery/General Shopping - Assist a FIA client who is unable to shop in dependently.  Some clients are able and interested in riding along, others are not able to.  Shopping trips are taken 2-4 times per month, depending on client needs and volunteer availability.
