Faith Lutheran ELCA 27th Annual  Sweetheart Dinner

–will be held Sun., Feb. 9, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Becker Community Center. Turkey and all the trimmings will be served.
 
There will be a silent auction, Celebration Baskets and raffle tickets.
 
Donations will be made to Youth Mission Group 2014 - The Hungry Ministry Team.
 
 
 
First Meeting Of The Becker Library Advisory Board For Teens
 
–will take place at the Becker Public Library Thurs., Feb. 13, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be combined with a fun chocolate fest for ages 12 to 18. It’s an opportunity to discuss ideas for programs and events that teens would like to see taking place at the library, and also an opportunity to meet with friends, eat chocolate and play games. This event is sponsored in part by the Friends of the Becker Library.

Living With Parkinson’s Under The Age Of 60
 
-If you or anyone you know is 60 or under and has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, you are welcome to join a newly forming group. Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m. at Saron Lutheran Church in Big Lake.

Monticello Cancer Center Offering Free Nutrition Class for Cancer Patients and Survivors
 
–on the second Wednesday of every month at 1 p.m. at the Monticello Cancer Center. 
 
Topics addressed include benefits of good nutrition, managing eating problems during treatment, how to read food labels and how to eat well after cancer treatment ends.

Knitting/Crochet Night
 
– is the first and third Tuesday night of each month at Cafe Pawz, 6:30-8:30 p.m., join as your schedule allows. All ages and levels of yarn lovers welcome.  Working towards creating items to donate locally if you'd like to help.
 
Central MN Tea Party
 
–will hear Twila Brace, President, Citizens Council for Health Freedom and Sen. Dave Brown, Health Care Insurance Agent speak on "How is Obama Care Working for You?"

-Snake River Church hymn sing will be Sun., Feb. 9 at 4:30. Hymn sings are held the second Sunday of every month.

G.A.L.A. Meetings
 
-G.A.L.A. stands for “Get A Life Again”.  This is a group of widows and widowers.  They meet twice a month to eat out and socialize.  The events are held at different places around the surrounding counties.    There are also different card groups that meet monthly.

Anna’s Tea
 
–An afternoon tea for widows of all communities. Date is Thurs., Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. at Becker  Baptist Church (11951 Habcock St.), Becker.
 
Guest speaker is Marilyn Wallberg. Mrs. Wallberg resides in Becker and is a renowned international and national converence and retreat speaker. Her topic for Anna’s Tea will be “A Valentine From God, I Love You.” There is no charge.
 
 
 
DivorceCare For Adults, Teens And Kids
 
-DivorceCare is a weekly support group designed to help those recovering from separation or divorce face their challenges and move toward rebuilding their life.  
 
The BIgD and DC4K are auxiliary programs designed just for students grade 6-12 and kids age 4-grade 5.  Mondays at  6:30 p.m. at Riverside Church.

Becker Schools PTSA Read-A-Thon
 
-The goal of the Read-A-Thon is to encourage kids to READ more and have fun, while raising money for programs and projects related to literacy.
 
The Read-A-Thon is Feb. 5-28. The students will also be collecting pledges which can be on a per minute basis or a flat donation. Checks should be payable to the Becker PTSA, and all donations are tax deductible. 
 
The Top Readers and the Top Fundraisers in each school will win a variety of prizes including gift cards, movie tickets, Airmaxx Passes, value meals, girl bike, boy bike, and many other items. (Students are not required to earn pledges in order to qualify for prizes.) The Top 10 classes with the most minutes read/pledges win pizza parties donated by Pizza Depot. Every participant receives a book mark and a chance to win additional prizes. Prize donations also received from Sherburne State Bank, Becker True Value, Mueller Movie, Country Lumber, Godfathers, AirMaxx, Hunter’s Ridge, All Star Embroidery, McDonalds  and Culvers.

Family Literacy Night
 
­­­­–at the Becker Intermediate School is  a free event that is open to the public.  It takes place Tues., Feb. 11 from 5-7 p.m.  
 
Free books will be given away to the first 80 students, and an additional 50-60 books will be given away during the event.  The event is sponsored by the Becker PTSA who is providing free pizza, and by Follet Books, Mackin Books, and 4th Grade teachers, who are providing the free books.
 
 
 
Sign Up For Hip Hop Dazzler Dance Camp
 
–(boys and girls ages 3-12) with practices on Tues. and Weds.,  Feb. 11 and 12 and Tues. and Weds., Feb. 18 and 19 with a half-time performance by the “campers to a hip hop routine choreographed by Dazzler team members.
