Hornets impressive at Princeton triangular

At the Princeton Triangular track & field meet in early April, the Big Lake boys and girls had some good performances.

For the boys, the Hornets swept the 400 meters, with Jack Leuer in first in 52.46, followed by Owen Layton in 53.35 and Josh Kennedy in 55.80.

Jerry Vazquez was first in the high jump at 5’8”, with Wuoson Nehwah third at 5’6” and Dylan Kunz fourth at 5’4”.

Nehwah took second in the 300 hurdles in 45.03 and third in the 110 hurdles in 17.59.

The Hornets went 2-3-4-5 in the 1600 with Gavin Flavin (4:53.59), David Guyse (4:55.79), Judd Layton (4:58.37 and Tent Erickson (4:58.41).

Gavin Vold cleared 9’6” in the pole vault to take third.

Montell Hester was third in the 100 meters in 12.5 seconds.

Abe Nebo went 39 feet for third in the triple jump.

Josh Dupre finished fourth in the 200 meters in 26.09 and Josh Kennedy was fourth in the long jump at 18’7”.

The 4x200 team of  Josh Dupre, Caleb Kennedy, Abe Nebo and Montell Hester took first in 1:37.36.

The 4x400 relay team of Caleb Kennedy, Josh Kennedy, Owen Layton and Jack Leuer also won in 3:34.79.

For the girls, Britta White topped the field in the 200 meters, finishing in 30.24 seconds. Raina White was third in 31.14, with Sydney Roy fifth in 31.16.

Britta White also took the long jump at 14’6.5”.

Naomi Huizenga won the triple jump at 31’8,” beating her closest competitor by two feet.

Campbell Slattery finished in first place in the 800 meters in 2:43.22.

Leah Uphoff took first place in the 300 hurdles in 50.85 seconds.

Emilee Doperalski took second in the 1600 meters in 6:25.51.

Alivia Voss cleared 4’10 to match her personal best in the high jump to finish second. Voss was third in the 100 meter hurdles in 18.83 seconds, with Britta White fifth in 19.06.

Alayna Boe went seven feet in the pole vault to take second.

Shiloh Elliott took third in the 100 meters in 14.31 seconds, with Eleonora Piva fourth in 14.55. Piva took second in the 400 meters in 73.0 seconds. Erica Ramberg was fourth in 74.0 seconds.

Greta Schwirtz took third in the shot put with a throw of 26’7”.

Elsie Johnson threw the discus 70 feet, good for fourth.

The Big Lake foursome of Huizenga, Kayleigh Pregier, Emily Edlund and Uphoff won the 4x400 relay in 4:37.09.

The 4x100 relay team of Britta White, Raina White, Sydney Roy and Shiloh Elliott took second in 55.76 seconds.

The Hornets competed at Monticello Tuesday and held their own invitational Thursday, results next week.
