Bulldog tracksters claim 2 wins

The Becker Bulldog boys track team scored a pair of victories last week, claiming the title in Big Lake on Tuesday and at Zimmerman on Thursday.  

Big Lake Meet

In the win at Big Lake, the team scored 110 points, followed by Big Lake in second place with 69. 

Leading the charge for the Bulldogs was Owen Angell, who won the pole vault with an effort clearing 14 feet.  

“Owen also captured victories in both the 110 Hurdles (15.69) and the 300 Hurdles (41.58), as well as the High Jump (5’8”),” said Coach Paul Schmidt.  “Carter Reckelberg also picked up three victories by winning the Long Jump with a leap of 23’4”, the 100 with a time of 11.27 and the 200 with a time of 22.65.”

Another Bulldog first place finish came from Parker Spindler in the 3200 with a time of 10:31, while he placed second in the 1600 (4:43).  

Zach Halvorson won the shot put with a toss of 38’ 2” and took second in the discus with a throw of 98’ 6”, while Hunter Youngdahl added a second place finish in the long jump with a leap of 19’7”.  

The Becker 4x800 relay team (Tanner Felton,  Evan Hubbard, Brandt Hemmelgarn, and Alex Kinney) took first place with a time of 8:50, and the 4x400 team (Isiah Boyer, Felton, Spindler and Youngdahl) also won their event with a time of 3:46.  

In addition, Boyer took second in the 400 with a time of 54.48 and Felton was second in the 800 with a time of 2:06.26.

Zimmerman Meet

At Zimmerman, the Bulldogs came away with a victory by scoring 108.5 points, while second place went to Spectrum with 67.5.  

Bulldog first place finishes went to Halvorson in the shot put with a throw of 38 feet, Boyer in the long jump with a leap of 19’2”,  and Carter Reckelberg in both the 100 (10.96) and the 200 (22.90).

Angell won the 110 and 300 hurdles with times of 15.51 and 42.18, respectively, while Felton won the 800 with a time of 2:09.76. 

Spindler took two victories with wins in the 1600 (4:52) and the 3200 (10:22), while Jacob Williams took first in the pole vault on a windy day with a vault of 8’6”.  

The 4x800 team of Felton, Hubbard, Hemmelgarn, and Hudson St. Denis took first with a time of 9:05 and the 4x400 team of Reckelberg, Boyer, Felton, and Spindler won with a time of 3:40.  Boyer also grabbed a second place finish in the 400 with a time of 56.01 and Saul Kreft had a second place finish in the discus with a toss of 101’ 2”.
