Bulldog boys baseball still undefeated

The Becker Bulldogs continue to play winning baseball, remaining undefeated on the season.

Last Thursday, it was the Gerald Hanle show as the Bulldogs downed the Zimmerman Thunder, 20-1.

Hanle started on the mound and went four innings, striking out 11 batters and yielding just one hit and one walk en route to the dominant win.  At the plate, Hanle collected six RBI, with one hit, two walks, a hit by pitch and a sacrifice fly.

The home run barrage continued for the Bulldogs, as they hit two more to give them five already on the season.  Isaac Daluge hit one to the opposite field in the top of the second, a two run shot, while Reid McCalla pulled a no-doubter over the left field fence to give the Bulldogs a pair of two-run homers in the same inning.

The Bulldogs piled up 14 hits in the game, including a three-for-four performance from McCalla and two hits apiece from Josh Groskreutz, Daluge, Ethan Guck and Ethan Obermoller.

“It was nice to see our bats wake up and cash in a bunch of runs,” Coach Brett Knudsen said after the game.

Versus Foley

Monday, the team once again came from behind and knocked off a very good Foley team, 5-2.

Versus C-I

Tuesday night, the Bulldogs needed some late heroics to move to 8-0 on the season as they defeated Cambridge-Isanti 8-7.
