Becker dancers perform at ReliaQuest Bowl in Florida

A group from Becker Just For Kix performed in the pre-game and halftime shows at the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa Bay, Florida on January 2, 2023.

The game was between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Illinois Fighting Illini with Mississippi coming out on top, 19-10. Dancers performed before a crowd of 35,797 fans at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There were 698 performers ranging from second – 12th grade. The photo includes Just For Six members from both Becker and Paynesville.

The Football themed pre-game show featured all of the performers using black and white poms celebrating the 37th anniversary of the bowl game in Tampa Bay. Dancers took up the entire field spanning from goal line to goal line as they performed their two-minute routine “Rock The Football.” The performers remained on the field during the National Anthem and fly over.

During the half-time show, dancers filled the field with five high school bands in the center of the formation uniting as one mass band to provide the live music for the show. This years’ show titled “Make Your Own Kind Of Music,” featuring the songs, “Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows” and “Make Your Own Kind Of Music.” The younger dancers performed with older dancers to “My Favorite Things.” The performance ended with a patriotic finale to “America.”  Cindy Clough, Executive Director of Just For Kix, was the choreographer with help from Ali Geraets, Sharaia Goble, MaKayla Clough and Adina Belanger.

Cindy Clough shared these comments: “We had an incredible group of dancers representing nine states this year. We felt they came in more prepared than usual and worked very hard. All dancers learned the choreography from video links that were sent to them in late November and once they got to Florida the show was put together. They had 12 hours to work on formations and polish the routines. Also, with the performers, we had 765 non-performers and 46 coaches/studio owners on the tour as well. Everyone had a great time and was so easy to work with. It is something they will remember forever as there is nothing quite like this large-scale performance.”
