Sixth grader recieves support from friends, family, classmates

Colton Anderson, a sixth-grader from Big Lake, has recently been diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

Starting next week and for the next nine months, Colton’s treatment plan includes chemotherapy, a host of medications, surgery and possibly radiation. It will be aggressive, intense, difficult and costly for his family who includes his mom, Melissa, his dad, Al and his brother Dillon.

Colton loves to fish, spend time outdoors and play football.

To show support for their classmate and teammate, members of his Hornet football team gathered at the Big Lake Fire Station  Monday evening to acquiesce in getting their heads shaved along with their pal, Colton.

Dozens of players, classmates, teachers, friends and family members set up a mini barber shop in one of the station bays to show their support. Colton has a GoFundMe page set up to help pay the bills associated with his fight with cancer.

The page can be found at: www.gofundme.com/f/colton-andersons-battle-for-life.

On the GoFundMe Page, Colton’s mom, Melissa, shared this message, “We ask that you keep Colton in your thoughts and prayers. The power of positivity goes a long way. Colton is an outgoing kid and keeps everyone laughing. Does he want to do this? NO! But is going to fight like he’s never fought before? YES! Together, we can make miracles happen. Please consider donating to help my son fight for his life. Thank you for reading our story!”
