Lions, girls basketball team clean up Hwy. 10

Last Saturday, the Becker Lions and the Becker Girls High School Basketball Team combined forces to clean up a two-mile stretch of Hwy. 10.

The Becker Lions do a cleanup along Hwy. 10 once every spring and every fall. Normally, the club teams up with a local boy scouts troop to get the job done, but the date didn’t work for the group this year.

However, the Becker Girls Basketball Team approached the Lions hoping for a donation to purchase new uniforms. The Lions agreed to help out, and asked the girls of the varsity and JV teams to join them in cleaning up alongside 10.

“It’s lucky we have money to give right now,” said Chris Vieau, one of the Lions.

Vieau led the clean-up effort last week, and said that it went faster than ever before. With the help from the girls and coaches, the volunteers were able to clean up their area in under an hour and a half. Vieau said the project usually takes over two hours.
