Jensen/Birk leading the way with Central MN voters

Democratic Gov. Tim Walz and Republican challenger Scott Jensen scored easy victories in their primaries Tuesday, setting the stage for their fall matchup in Minnesota’s marquee race for governor.

Governor Race

Scott Jensen and Matt Birk (GOP) took 89.31% of the votes for the Republican challenger while Tim Walz and Peggy Flanagan (DFL) took 96.53% of the vote for Democrats.

At Becker City Hall, 299 votes were cast for Governor with the team of Jensen/Birk, garnering 211 of those votes. For Becker Twp., 410 votes were cast for Governor with Jensen/Birk receiving 302 of those votes. For Big Lake Precinct 1, 217 votes were cast with Jensen/Birk receiving 131 votes. At BL Precinct 2, 185 votes were cast with 119 going to Jensen/Birk. At BL Precinct 3, 293 votes were cast with Jensen/Birk receiving 164 of those votes. At Big Lake Twp. 1, 250 votes were cast with Jensen/Birk receiving 162 of those votes. At Big Lake Twp. 2, Jensen/Birk received 199 votes of the 269 cast. At Big Lake Twp. 3, 133 votes were cast with 86 going to Jensen/Birk.

At Orrock Twp, 271 votes came in with Jensen/Birk garnering 207.

At Clear Lake City, 81 votes came in with 48 going towards Jensen/Birk. At Clear Lake Twp., 401 votes were cast with 236 going towards Jensen/Birk.

At Haven Twp. 1, 18 votes were cast with 15 going to Jensen/Birk. For Haven Twp. 2, 367 votes were cast with 219 going to Jensen/Birk.

At Palmer Twp., Jensen/Birk grabbed 333 of the 524 votes cast.

Secretary of State

For Secretary of State, incumbent Steve Simon took 72.52% of the votes for the DFL, while Kim Crockett took 63.15% of the vote for the GOP.

At Becker City Hall, Kim Crockett took in 123 of the 284 votes cast for secretary of state. For Becker Twp, 385 votes were cast with Crockett receiving 155 votes. For Big Lake Precinct 1, 203 votes were cast with Jensen/Birk getting 83 votes. At BL Precinct 2, 174 votes were cast with Crockett receiving 69. At BL Precinct 3, 266 votes were cast with Crockett receiving 113. At Big Lake Twp. 1, Crockett pulled in 117 of the 239 votes to top all contenders. At BL Twp. 2, Crockett took 148 of the 253 votes cast. At BL Twp. 3, Crockett took 61 of the 128 votes cast.

At Orrock Twp., Crockett received the most votes at 130 out of 249 cast.

At Clear Lake City, 74 votes were cast with 28 going to Schultz. For Cl Twp., 352 votes were cast with Erik van Mechelen getting the most votes with 125.

At Haven Twp. 1, 15 votes were cats with van Mechelen getting 9 of those votes. At Haven Twp. 2, 324 votes were cast with van Mechelen receiving 111.

At Palmer Twp., Crockett received the most votes at 193 out of 467 cast.

Attorney General

For Attorney General, incumbent Keith Ellison took 89.35% of the vote on the Democratic side while Jim Schultz took 52.51% for the Republicans.

At Becker City Hall, Schultz reeled in 129 votes out of 267 votes cast for Attorney General. At Becker Twp., Schultz received 154 of the 395 votes cast. At Big Lake Precinct 1, 213 votes were cast with 78 going to Schultz. At BL Precinct 2, 176 votes were cast with 67 being awarded to Schultz. At BL Precinct 3, 274 votes came in with 98 going to Schultz. At Big Lake Twp. 1, 242 votes were cast with Schultz receiving the most at 96. At Big Lake Twp. 2, Schultz took 133 of the 260 votes cast. At BL Twp. 3, Schultz took 53 of the 131 votes cast to lead all contenders.

At Orrock Twp., Schultz pulled in 115 of the 256 votes to lead the way.

At Clear Lake City, 77 votes were cast with Schultz receiving 26. At CL Twp., 370 votes were cast with 124 going to Schultz.

At Haven Twp. 1, Schultz received 13 of the 17 votes cast. At Haven Twp. 2, Schultz received 135 of the 333 votes.

At Palmer Twp., Schultz took home 185 votes of the 486 cast.

Sherburne County Commissioner Dist. 4

For Sherburne County Commissioner District 4, Gary Gray received 864 votes (34.84%) to runners up Lefty Kleis (20.65%), Kari Watkins (17.78%), Carol Lewis (17.30%) and Eric Meyer (9.44%). Clear Lake City residents cast 84 votes for the commissioner seat with Gray garnering 36 votes to outlast his contenders.

Clear Lake Twp. appears to be the variance for Gray’s victory as he garnered 262 votes from that precinct compared to just 70 for Kleis. At Clear Lake City, of the 84 votes cast, 36 went to Gray.
