Clearview Sends Students Off With A Wave Parade

Clearview Elementary School’s traditional end-of-the-year student sendoff may have looked a bit different than in the past, but it was still a fun event enjoyed by all who participated.

Each year when students head home after the last day of class, teachers and staff stand outside and wave as the buses pull away from the building. Although this school year ended with distance learning they wanted to continue their tradition, so the event was turned into a parade in order to maintain the district’s social distancing guidelines.

Monday morning teachers and staff members lined up on the sidewalk from one end of Clearview to the other, many with homemade signs telling students they how much they were missed or wishing them well, while vehicles filled with students and their parents lined up along 90th Street as far as the eye could see.

With teachers and staff waving and dancing to upbeat music, the vehicles drove past slowly with the students calling out and waving back; many of them with their own homemade signs thanking their teachers.
