The Becker High School and Middle School Drama clubs will get the opportunity to hold their annual musicals after all! Outdoor performances of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (for the High School) and Pirates of Penzance (for the middle school) will take place next weekend.
COVID-19 Restrictions
It wasn’t certain whether the drama club would get a chance to hold its annual musical, which usually takes place in December or November. With COVID-19, the club was unable to hold a performance inside the PAC, though they were able to hold an outdoor performance. Without being able to hold the performance indoors, there was no time to prepare for a long musical before the weather was too cold. Instead, the High School Drama Club opted for a short play in October, 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse.
Attitude of Gratitude
With COVID-19 cases in the county down, and warm spring weather on the way, the teen actors are glad for a second chance at their musical, especially those who are graduating at the end of the month.
“It’s great to do this in senior year and have these connections,” said Tucker Schmoll, who will be playing Charlie Brown.
“It’s great to be around everyone else,” agreed Nick Roehl, cast as Pig Pen.
“And we are so blessed to have directors and tech crew building sets for an outdoor performance like no other!” said Kaelyn Lombard, playing Violet.
