Becker softball is on a roll

Last Thursday, Becker Bulldogs traveled to Big Lake and took on the Hornets. The Bulldogs pulled through with a final score of 12-7.

Jaimee Cook went all seven innings and struck out six Hornet batters. Ady Petty and Ergen each had three hits.

At Rockford

Last Tuesday, the Bulldogs traveled to Rockford and played the #8 ranked Rockets.

In the second inning, the Bulldogs took on an early lead when Duncombe hit a single and eventually scored on a Lily Warren bunt. Ady Petty would then score in the third, making the score 2-0.

The Rockets tied the game at 3-3.

Rain began to fall in the top of the eighth, but that did not deter the Bulldogs. Three singles, a walk, and a Jaimee Cook double boosted the Bulldogs score to 7-3. Not to be outdone, the Rockets scored two more runs with the bases still loaded. Cook managed to strike out the next batter for the second out. The next Rocket batter hit the ball deep into left center that could have been a game winning hit if not for Duncombe. Duncombe chased down the ball and made a game-saving catch to secure the win at 7-5.

Cook went all eight innings and struck out 11 batters. Neumann and Petty each had three hits during the game.

The Bulldog record improved to 6-3.

The next game will be at Cambridge where the Bulldogs will take on the Bluejackets. The Bulldogs will then host the 30th annual Becker Softball Invite where they will play eight very good teams.
